Exciting 2022 Summer Season: Collegiate Chess League Bullet and Bughouse Championships!

The Collegiate Chess League is gearing up for an exciting summer season with the announcement of the 2022 bullet and bughouse college championships! Taking place over four weeks in August, the bullet championship kicks off on August 6, with the finals on August 13. Following that, the bughouse championship will begin on August 20, with the finals on August 28. All matches will be streamed live on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.

This summer season marks the first time the league is hosting both a bullet and bughouse championship, adding to the excitement of their regular season which includes rapid and blitz time controls. Registration for the upcoming 2022-2023 season will open on August 1, with more details about the season announced in partnership with NACE, the largest collegiate esports league in North America.

The format for the championships includes qualifiers and playoffs for both the bullet and bughouse events. The bullet championship will feature a 20-round Swiss tournament followed by double-elimination playoffs, while the bughouse championship will have four qualifier tournaments leading to a single-elimination bracket.

Although there are no cash prizes for the inaugural summer season, Chess.com will be awarding premium memberships for both championships. Additionally, college chess clubs participating in the College Ambassador Program can receive extra memberships just for registering.

Registration is now open for both events, and players can find all the details, prizes, and rules for the 2022 summer season on the league’s website. Be sure to join the bullet and bughouse club pages on Chess.com and join the league’s Discord server to stay updated on all announcements. For any questions, players can reach out to the league’s Commissioner, Joe Lee, via email or on Discord.
