Ratata Spanish Squad Advances to Semifinals in 2024 Team Chess Battle 2

Ratata Spanish Squad, consisting of GM Pepe Cuenca and IM David Martinez, emerged victorious in the third quarterfinal match of the 2024 Team Chess Battle 2. They defeated the team ChessDojo, represented by IM Kostya Kavutskiy and IM David Pruess, with a clean sweep of 2-0.

In the first game, Ratata Spanish Squad executed a slow squeeze strategy in the King’s Indian Defense, ultimately overwhelming their opponents. The second game saw ChessDojo in a must-win situation, but they over-pressed, allowing Ratata Spanish Squad to secure the win.

The upcoming Semifinal match will pit Ratata Spanish Squad against Team Cramling, featuring GM Pia Cramling and WFM Anna Cramling. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, at 3 p.m. ET / 21:00 CEST / 00:30 a.m. IST (Wednesday).
