FIDE Social Chess Storytelling Challenge: Celebrating the Transformative Power of Chess

Chess is more than just a game – it’s a powerful tool that can change lives and communities. From empowering individuals to fostering social inclusion, chess has the ability to create positive impact around the world. Now, FIDE is inviting filmmakers, federations, and changemakers to share their stories through the FIDE Social Chess Storytelling Challenge.

Under the theme “Every Move Counts”, participants are encouraged to submit short films that showcase the social impact of chess in various settings, from personal development to social transformation and creating opportunities for vulnerable communities. Whether you’re a professional filmmaker or an amateur enthusiast, this challenge is open to everyone who wants to share their chess story with the world.

Submissions for the challenge are now open and will be accepted until October 25, 2025. Winners will receive a special FIDE Trophy, an invitation to the FIDE Olympiad 2026 Opening Ceremony, and global recognition through various FIDE platforms. Award categories include Best Short Film (Professional), Best Grassroots Film (Amateur), and the FIDE Social Commission Choice Award.

There are no age or nationality restrictions for participants, and multiple submissions are allowed. So, grab your camera, capture your chess story, and let your move make a difference in the world.
