Veteran Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has extended his best wishes to the Indian chess contingent after their historic victory at the 45th Chess Olympiad. The Indian team clinched gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories, marking a significant achievement in the country’s sports trajectory.

Amitabh Bachchan took to his Instagram to share a video showcasing the players of the Indian contingent, expressing gratitude for their amazing victory. The men’s team, featuring Vidit Gujrathi, Arjun Erigaisi, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Pentala Harikrishna, and D Gukesh, ended India’s 97-year wait for a gold medal in the Chess Olympiad. Following suit, the women’s team, comprising Divya Deshmukh, D Harika, Tania Sachdev, Vaishali Rameshbabu, and Vantika Agrawal, secured the second gold for India in the event held in Budapest, Hungary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the Indian team for their historic win, emphasizing the significance of this achievement in inspiring future generations of chess enthusiasts.
