AICFB to Host 12th IBCA World Junior and Women Championships for the Blind in Bengaluru

The All India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) is all set to host the 12th edition of the IBCA World Junior and World Women Championships for the Blind in Bengaluru from September 28 to October 6. This prestigious event marks the first time that the World Junior and Woman Chess Championship for the Visually Impaired is being held outside Europe, with India being chosen as the first Asian country to host the tournament.

The championship will feature past world champions, international masters, and FIDE-rated players from 32 countries including the USA, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, and more. Among the participants are Asian Para Games medallists Megha Chakraborty and Tijan Gawar from India, who will showcase their talent on an international stage.

AICFB president Charudatta Jhadhav expressed his excitement about hosting the event, emphasizing the celebration of exceptional talents of players with visual impairments and the strengthening of the global chess community. Jhadhav, a chess champion himself and a National Award winner, has developed innovative chess software and radio programs for the blind community.
