International Master Vikramaditya Kulkarni Leads All India FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2024
International Master Vikramaditya Kulkarni of Mumbai, along with Yash Watarkar from Pune, Arnav Kherdekar from Mumbai, and Saikat Nath from Delhi, have all secured wins and are now sharing the lead at the end of the fifth round of the SMCA Chess School-organised first All India FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2024.
In an intense fifth round, Kulkarni, with an ELO Rating of 2185, defeated Darsh Shetty (ER 1798) on the top board, while Watarkar (ER 1963) outplayed Palghar’s Deepak Soni (ER 1750) on the second board to maintain their winning streak. Kherdekar (1846) also emerged victorious against Delhi’s Tarun N (1730) on the third board, while Saikat Nath (1829) from Delhi secured a win against Karnataka’s Rajeev Rudra (1738) on the fourth board.
The tournament has seen some intense matches and impressive performances from the top players. In the previous rounds, Kulkarni defeated Amey Dandekar, Watarkar beat Prisha Margaj, Kherdekar triumphed over Udupi Acharya, and Nath emerged victorious against Guruprasad Kulkarni.
