The Polish Team Championship recently concluded after a hard-fought competition between 10 teams. The tournament, which took place from 6 to 15 October, featured top players from Poland and Germany, making it an exciting event for chess enthusiasts.

The OTUM SA Polonia Wrocław team, led by Pentala Harikrishna and Nils Grandelius, initially seemed to have the upper hand with strong performances in the early rounds. However, Klub Sportowy Gwiazda Bydgoszcz, with Leon Mendonca and Radosław Wojtaszek, managed to secure crucial victories in the later rounds, including a significant win against Wrocław in the eighth round.

After nine rounds, Bydgoszcz and Wrocław were tied on team points, but Bydgoszcz secured the championship with 2 more board points, a critical tiebreak criterion. The German grandmasters in the competition, including Alexander Donchenko, Niclas Hischenbeth, Rasmus Svane, and Matthias Blübaum, also put up strong performances, with Blübaum standing out as the second-best player in terms of Tournament Performance Rating.

The final standings saw Bydgoszcz clinching the championship title, followed closely by Wrocław and other competitive teams in the tournament. The intense competition and impressive performances from players on both sides made the Polish Team Championship a thrilling event for chess fans.
