GM Hikaru Nakamura Dominates Bullet Brawl with Record 32nd Victory

In a thrilling display of chess prowess, GM Hikaru Nakamura emerged victorious in the latest edition of the Bullet Brawl, scoring an impressive 71.5/77 and finishing ahead of the competition by a staggering 55 points. Nakamura’s stellar performance secured him the $400 first prize and marked his record-breaking 32nd win in the event.

The Bullet Brawl, a highly competitive arena for top bullet specialists, saw Nakamura outshine fellow GMs Oleksandr Bortnyk and Tuan Minh Le, who finished in second and third place respectively. The event featured a star-studded field with players rated over 3000, including former rapid world championship runner-up GM Dmitry Andreikin and the current world number four Arjun Erigaisi.

Despite a slow start that saw him drop his first game, Nakamura quickly regained his momentum, winning seven consecutive games and defeating three GMs in a row. His dominant performance in the latter half of the event, where he lost only one game, solidified his status as the final boss of the Bullet Brawl.

In the women’s category, IM Meri Arabidze claimed the $100 top prize after a remarkable victory over several 3000+ rated players, including GM Arjun Erigaisi. The community event was won by Sundram Kumar with a score of 275.

Nakamura’s latest triumph cements his legacy as one of the greatest bullet players of all time, with an extraordinary hit rate of 41.5% in the history of the event. Fans can look forward to the next Bullet Brawl scheduled for Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at noon ET/18:00 CEST.
