The 2024 FIDE World Youth Chess Championship recently concluded in Florianopolis, Brazil, with 16 Americans competing across the six sections. While no Americans made it to the podium, several players had impressive performances, including IM Nico Chasin who finished in a tie for fifth place in the Under-18 Open section. Additionally, CMs Nikash Vemparala and Aditeya Das, as well as Dhanvi Namala, saw significant increases in their FIDE ratings.
The 2024 FIDE World Cadet Chess Championship is set to begin today in Montesilvano, Italy. A total of 46 Americans are registered to compete across the six sections. Notable participants include WCM Abigail Zhou in the Girls Under-8 section and WFM Laurie Qiu in the Girls Under-12 section.
