Leadership Updates for Wilson Elementary and Denton Creek Elementary for the 2025-2026 School Year

Exciting Leadership Updates for CISD Schools in the 2025-2026 School Year

In a recent announcement to the CISD community, Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt shared important leadership updates for Wilson Elementary and Denton Creek Elementary for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.

Pinkerton Principal Mandy Sweeney will be transitioning to serve as the principal of Wilson Elementary, bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to lead the International Baccalaureate (IB) program as it moves to Wilson. Mrs. Sweeney is dedicated to maintaining the unique culture of both Pinkerton and Wilson and is eager to collaborate with staff, families, and students to ensure a seamless transition and continued academic excellence.

Meanwhile, Wilson Elementary Principal Cooper Hilton will be taking on a new role as Director of Governmental Relations and Strategic Initiatives for CISD. This move represents a natural opportunity for Mr. Hilton’s professional growth and aligns with his future career aspirations. He remains committed to supporting Wilson, Pinkerton, Denton Creek, and the CISD community during this transition.

Dr. Yanet Cardoza will continue to serve as the principal of Denton Creek Elementary, where she will welcome Dual Language Immersion (DLI) students from Wilson Elementary and work to blend the best of both school cultures while maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment.

As these leadership transitions take place, the focus remains on creating a seamless experience for students, teachers, staff, and families. With strong leadership at all levels, these changes are expected to lead to strong school communities committed to welcoming new members and ensuring the continued success of all students and schools.

The CISD community is grateful for the ongoing support as they work together to navigate these changes and ensure a bright future for all students and schools.

Stay tuned for more updates as the 2025-2026 school year approaches!
