Boston Celtics Center Kristaps Porzingis Nearing Return After Foot Surgery
The Boston Celtics have been eagerly awaiting the return of their championship starting center, Kristaps Porzingis, who has yet to play a single game this season due to a left foot injury. However, there is good news on the horizon as Porzingis appears to be nearing his 2024-25 season debut.
According to Cameron Tabatatabie of Celtics Wire/Yahoo Sports, Porzingis has been participating in pregame warm-ups with his teammates and traveling with the team for road games. This week, he even practiced with the Celtics’ G League affiliate squad, the Maine Celtics, before being recalled to Boston later that day.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla has been closely monitoring Porzingis’ progress and is impressed with his recovery journey. Mazzulla stated, “All I know is he’s getting better every day. He’s working really hard at coming back as fast as he can, and he’s in the next phase of ramping.”
Last season, the Celtics relied heavily on Al Horford in Porzingis’ absence, and the veteran center delivered a solid performance. This season, Horford has continued to excel in Porzingis’ place, with young big man Neemias Queta emerging as a promising reserve option.
As the Celtics eagerly await Porzingis’ return to the court, fans are hopeful that his presence will provide a significant boost to the team’s championship aspirations. Stay tuned for more updates on Porzingis’ recovery and anticipated season debut.
