Exciting News: 2024 Speed Chess Championship Finals to be Held in Paris!

The excitement is building as the 2024 Speed Chess Championship approaches, with a thrilling live final set to take place in Paris. Chess.com is bringing the climax of its flagship fast time control event offline for the first time, promising an intense battle for the ultimate title in speed chess.

The tournament will feature a prize pool of $175,000 and will run in three stages from June to September. The live finals will be held at ESpot, Paris’ new esports arena, from September 6 to 8, allowing fans to witness the action in person. Tickets are already on sale for those eager to be part of the live audience.

The top four players will compete in the Grand Final after battling it out in the Winners and Losers finals. Seven of the world’s top speed chess players have already been confirmed, including the legendary GM Hikaru Nakamura who is looking to reclaim his title from his rival, three-time winner Magnus Carlsen.

The rivalry between Nakamura and Carlsen has been a highlight of the Speed Chess Championship, with the two players dominating the event since its inception in 2017. Will 2024 be the year a new champion emerges, or will the battle between Nakamura and Carlsen continue to captivate fans?

Joining Nakamura and Carlsen are other top players like Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, Alireza Firouzja, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, and Ding Liren. The field promises to be highly competitive, with additional invitation spots and qualification opportunities available for players to secure a spot in the tournament.

The Speed Chess Championship is a fan favorite event that combines blitz and bullet formats in a double-elimination knockout tournament. With the live final in Paris set to be a thrilling conclusion to the tournament, chess fans are eagerly anticipating the action-packed event.
