Exciting Launch of the 2024 Chess.com Community Championships Series: Hyperbullet Championship!
Get ready to test your speed and strategy skills because the new 2024 Chess.com Community Championships series is kicking off with the Hyperbullet Championship later this month. This fast-paced event will see players from around the world compete for a crown and a cash prize on Chess.com.
The Hyperbullet Championship, scheduled for May 30 to 31, will feature players battling it out with just 30 seconds per game to make their moves. With a prize pool of $2,000 up for grabs, the competition is sure to be intense.
But the Hyperbullet Championship is just the beginning. Chess.com has also announced two other major championship events for 2024: the Speed Chess Championship, which will be held live and in-person in Paris, and the Bullet Chess Championship.
The Hyperbullet Championship is the first of eight Community Championships tournaments in 2024, with a total prize fund of $37,500. Other events in the series include the Chess960 Championship, the Spell Chess Championship, and the Bughouse Championship.
Incorporated into the Community Championships is Chess.com’s Daily Chess Championship, which runs all year alongside other events. In 2025, the Community Championships will be expanded to 12 events with a prize fund of $50,000.
WIM Ayelen Martinez, Chess.com’s Senior Manager for Community Activations, expressed excitement about the upcoming events, saying, “These events are designed to give you the chance to compete in high-level events, try new and different formats, and perhaps come across a top player. There are cash prizes to be won and the chance to win something special that everyone in our huge worldwide community of chess players will recognize.”
The Hyperbullet Championship will kick off with eight 30-minute arena qualifiers, with winners advancing to the double-elimination knockout final on May 31. The overall winner will take home a prize of $600, with additional prizes for placing and the top streamer.
So, if you think you have what it takes to compete in the ultimate speed chess event, mark your calendars for the Hyperbullet Championship and get ready to make your moves at lightning speed.
