Round 14 Schedule and Playoff Information

The highly anticipated Round 14 of the Candidates Tournament is set to begin, with players gearing up for the final showdown to determine who will earn the right to challenge the World Chess Champion. The tournament, featuring a double round-robin format, will see each player face off against their rivals twice over the course of three weeks, with four rest days interspersed throughout.

In the Open section, players will have 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 41. On the other hand, the Women’s section will have time controls of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with the same increment.

If there is a tie for first place after the 14 rounds, a rapid and blitz playoff will be held to determine the ultimate winner. The schedule for the tournament includes rounds spread out from April 4th to April 21st, with playoffs scheduled for April 22nd if necessary.
