Anand Mahindra Helps Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi Secure US Visa for World Rapid and Blitz Championships
Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi faced a major hurdle in his journey to compete in the upcoming World Rapid and Blitz Championships in New York, but thanks to the support of some key individuals, he has now received the necessary US visa to participate in the prestigious tournament.
Arjun, the world No. 4 Indian chess player, reached out to the US Embassy for expedited visa processing, and with the help of Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra and Mahindra Group, his plea was heard. Mahindra, known for his philanthropic efforts and support for Indian talent, stepped in to assist Arjun in overcoming the visa obstacles.
Expressing his gratitude to all those who played a role in facilitating his visa approval, including the Ministry of External Affairs and the US Embassy, Arjun shared his excitement on social media, stating, “I have received the US Visa! I am honestly overwhelmed and very grateful for so much positive response to my situation.”
Anand Mahindra, in response to Arjun’s success in securing the visa, emphasized the importance of supporting and championing talented individuals like Arjun. He stated, “If we don’t support our champions, who will? It was a duty to be of help, Arjun Erigaisi.”
Arjun, who recently achieved an ELO rating of 2800, making him only the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to reach this milestone, has been in exceptional form this year. His individual and team victories in the Chess Olympiad showcased his skill and potential on the international stage.
