D Gukesh Climbs to Third Position in Live Elo Chess Ratings, Behind Nakamura and Carlsen

In a thrilling turn of events, D Gukesh has climbed to third position in the live Elo chess ratings, following his recent victory in the World Chess Championship in Singapore. The Indian Grandmaster has been in dominant form since his triumph, securing a hard-fought draw against Jorden van Foreest in the Tata Steel Masters on Saturday.

Gukesh now shares the lead with R Praggnanandhaa, who defeated Alexey Sarana in the same tournament. With his impressive performance, Gukesh has now reached a rating of 2791.9, making him the World No. 3 in the chess rankings. He is currently behind Hikaru Nakamura and Magnus Carlsen, who hold the second and first positions respectively.

Meanwhile, Fabiano Caruana is in fourth place with a rating of 2790.2, followed by Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Arjun Erigaisi, Praggnanandhaa, and Alireza Firouzja in the top rankings. However, chess legend Viswanathan Anand has slipped from 10th to 12th position, as he now focuses more on his role as the FIDE deputy president and participates less in tournaments.

Gukesh’s upcoming match against Arjun in the final round of the Tata Steel Masters promises to be an exciting showdown. If both Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa lose in the final, Abdusattorov could potentially make a play for the playoffs.

Reflecting on his recent draw and upcoming match, Gukesh expressed his focus on his own game and excitement for the final round. He is set to travel to Germany for the first leg of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour, where he will face top players like Carlsen and Caruana.

As Gukesh continues to make waves in the chess world, fans eagerly anticipate his future matches and rankings. Stay tuned for more updates on this rising chess star and other sports news.
