Lei Tingjie in Good Form Heading into Norway Chess 2025

Lei Tingjie, the Chinese Grandmaster, is gearing up for the Norway Chess 2025 tournament in good form after clinching silver at the World Blitz Championship 2024. In a closely-fought final against Ju Wenjun, the reigning four-time Women’s World Champion, Tingjie narrowly missed out on the top spot in their second sudden-death game.

In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, the 27-year-old reflected on her experience at the 2024 World Rapid and Blitz Championships in New York, where she expressed satisfaction with her performance. Tingjie highlighted the challenges she faced and her determination to improve her skills for future tournaments.

Tingjie’s journey in chess began at a young age, and she has since achieved remarkable success, including receiving the Grandmaster title at just 19 years old. She has represented China in various tournaments and has consistently delivered dominant performances, earning accolades such as a gold medal at the Asian Nations Cup and the Batumi Olympiad.

Looking ahead to the Norway Chess Women 2025 tournament, Tingjie is focused on preparing for the upcoming challenges. The tournament lineup includes top players like Ju Wenjun, Koneru Humpy, Anna Muzychuk, Vaishali Rameshbabu, and Sarasadat Khademalsharieh, promising an exciting competition.

As women’s chess continues to gain popularity and support from sponsors, Tingjie believes that the future of the sport is bright.
