Viswanathan Anand Analyzes D Gukesh’s Winning Mentality: A Chess Legend’s Perspective

Five-time world chess champion Viswanathan Anand recently analyzed the winning mentality of 18-year-old D Gukesh, who made history by becoming the youngest-ever world chess champion in December last year. Anand praised Gukesh’s composure and ability to concentrate even in tough situations, highlighting his consistency and strength as a player.

In a recent interview with Forbes India, Anand spoke highly of Gukesh’s performance at the World Chess Championship, where he defeated defending champion Ding Liren in a dramatic 14th game. Anand noted Gukesh’s resilience in bouncing back from defeats and his diverse ideas in different openings, making him a formidable opponent on the chessboard.

Despite a winless run at the Weissenhaus Freestyle Chess Grand Slam event, Gukesh is gearing up for upcoming tournaments, including the Paris Grand Slam event and the Grand Chess Tour events. He is also set to face off against Magnus Carlsen at Norway Chess 2025.

Gukesh will be joined by fellow Indian players Arjun Erigaisi and R Praggnanandhaa in Paris, where they will compete against a strong field of international players. Praggnanandhaa, who recently won the Tata Steel Masters, will be looking to continue his success against Gukesh and other top players in the upcoming tournaments.

Chess fans can expect an exciting showdown between Gukesh and Carlsen, as well as intense competition from the Indian contingent in the upcoming events. Stay tuned for more updates on Gukesh’s journey as he continues to make waves in the world of chess.
