In a surprising turn of events, India’s leading chess coach has named Aravindh Chithambaram as the next ‘Viswanathan Anand,’ overshadowing the reigning World Chess Champion and FIDE World No. 3, D Gukesh. Chithambaram’s recent victory at the Prague Chess Masters 2025 has catapulted him into the spotlight, positioning him as a strong contender in the FIDE Circuit 2025.

Currently ranked third in the FIDE Circuit 2025, Chithambaram is trailing behind Ding Liren and R Praggnanandhaa, with the winner of the circuit securing a direct spot in the Candidates in 2026.
