Organized by the Maharashtra Chess Association in collaboration with the All India Chess Federation and FIDE, the event promises to be a thrilling competition.
Players from Armenia, USA, Indonesia, Slovakia, Georgia, Russia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Egypt will join their Indian counterparts in the nine-round Swiss league format tournament. With a generous prize fund of Rs 30 lakh up for grabs, the Maharashtra Open Grandmaster tournament is one of the most lucrative chess events in the country.
Indian players like GM Abhijeet Gupta, Venkatesh, MR, Karthikeyan, P Deep Sengupta, Chanda Sandipan, Ayush Sharma, and Neelash Saha will be looking to make their mark in the competition. International players such as Grigoryan Karen H and Manuel Petrosyan from Armenia, Boris Savchenko and Stany GA Levan Pantsulaia from Georgia, and Nguyen Van Huy from Uzbekistan will also be vying for the top spot.
The tournament will be overseen by International Arbiter Srivastan R as the chief arbiter, with IA Atharva Godbole serving as the deputy arbiter.
