Duolingo Launches New Chess Course, Expanding Educational Offerings

Duolingo, the popular language-learning app, has expanded its educational offerings with the launch of a new chess course. This marks Duolingo’s first new course since the release of its music and math courses in 2023.

The new chess course, which was launched in beta on April 22, is designed to teach users how to play chess from the ground up. Users will learn how each chess piece moves, how to spot tactical patterns, and how to develop a winning strategy. The course features short puzzles and mini matches, allowing users to practice their skills against the app’s in-game chess coach, Oscar.

Initially available to a limited number of English users with Apple devices, the full course will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks. Duolingo also plans to add support for additional operating systems and languages in the future.

As with all of Duolingo’s courses, the chess course is free to access. Duolingo, which launched in 2011, is known for its game-like lessons that make learning a new language fun and engaging.

With the addition of the chess course, Duolingo continues to expand its educational offerings and provide users with new and exciting ways to learn. Stay tuned for more updates on Duolingo’s latest course offerings.
