Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani Praises Indian Teen Chess Sensation R Praggnanandhaa’s Victory Over World’s Top Players

Indian teen chess sensation R Praggnanandhaa has been making waves at the ongoing Norway Chess competition, with his recent victories over world number one Magnus Carlsen and world number two Fabiano Caruana earning him praise from Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani.

Adani took to social media to commend Praggnanandhaa, saying, “Incredible Praggnanandhaa! Beating both World No.1 Magnus Carlsen and No.2 Fabiano Caruana in classical chess at #NorwayChess is mindblowing. You’re on a roll and still just 18! Keep the tricolour flying high. All the very best, @rpraggnachess!”

The 18-year-old’s impressive performance has also catapulted him into the top ten of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Rankings. This is the first time in history that a player has defeated both Carlsen and Caruana in classical chess.

Praggnanandhaa’s victory over Carlsen in round three showcased his strategic prowess and determination. Despite a loss to Hikaru Nakamura in round four, the Indian prodigy’s talent and potential are undeniable.

The Norway Chess competition has seen other exciting matchups, with local hero Magnus Carlsen securing a narrow victory over Fabiano Caruana and Alireza Firouzja stunning reigning World Champion Ding Liren.

The tournament, which started on May 27 and will continue until June 7, features both the traditional Norway Chess event and the newly introduced Norway Chess Women tournament, highlighting gender equality in chess.
