Riot Games Reveals Location of 2024 VALORANT Game Changers Championship and Policy Changes for GC Players

The highly anticipated 2024 VALORANT Game Changers Championship location has been unveiled by Riot Games, along with significant policy changes aimed at enhancing opportunities for players in the Game Changers circuit.

VALORANT Game Changers has always been a platform dedicated to promoting competition for women and individuals of marginalized genders, providing a space for aspiring players to showcase their skills and potentially transition to the main VCT circuit.

Riot Games is now taking steps to further support this vision, introducing new rules for the Premier’s path to pro, mixed-gender tournaments, and additional slots at the upcoming VALORANT Game Changers 2024 Championship tournament.

Riot’s Vision for VALORANT Game Changers

In a statement from Riley Yurk, Principal Strategist for VALORANT Esports at Riot Games, the company expressed its commitment to helping the top Game Changers players succeed in other areas of the VCT ecosystem.

Yurk highlighted the inspirational talents of players such as mimi, meL, daiki, and florescent, who serve as ambassadors not only for Game Changers but for the entire VALORANT community.

The primary objective is to integrate these standout players into the main VCT circuit, prompting Riot Games to introduce new policies to facilitate this transition.

New Policies to Help with Upward Player Mobility

Based on feedback from VALORANT Game Changers professionals who expressed their desire to compete in the main VCT, Riot Games will implement several key policies:

  • Players no longer have to choose between Game Changers or Premier’s Path to Pro
  • Game Changers teams can earn byes in Premier outside of playoffs if schedules conflict
  • Qualifying GC teams earn direct invites to their regional Challengers League qualifier
  • GC players are not considered imports and are exempt from transfer windows and signing restrictions
  • Organizations in Challengers and International leagues can field second rosters with GC-eligible players
  • GC players can be two-way players for an IL team or compete in both GC and Challengers simultaneously

VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2024 Location and Expansion

The 2024 VALORANT Game Changers Championship will return to the Riot Games arena in Berlin, where fans witnessed G2 Gozen’s epic reverse sweep over Shopify Rebellion in 2022.

Scheduled to take place from November 8 to 17, the tournament will feature a total of 10 teams, an increase from the previous eight. With the addition of a fourth International league, more opportunities have been created for teams from various regions to showcase their talent on a global stage.

Overall, these policy changes and the expansion of the Game Changers Championship reflect Riot Games’ ongoing commitment to fostering inclusivity and providing a pathway for talented players to excel in the competitive VALORANT scene.
