Apple Increases Size Limits for iOS and tvOS Apps: What You Need to Know

Apple is making some big changes to the size limits for iOS and tvOS apps, allowing developers to create larger and more advanced apps and games. With the upcoming release of iOS 18 and tvOS 18, app bundles can now be up to 4GB, doubling the previous limit. This means that users can expect to see more robust apps and games available for their iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs.

In addition to increasing the app bundle size limit, Apple is also raising the limits for on-demand resources. This means that developers can now include up to 70GB of hosted on-demand resources in their apps and games, compared to the previous limit of 40GB. This change will allow for more content to be downloaded as needed, saving storage space on users’ devices.

These updates will benefit developers who are creating console-level games for iOS and tvOS, as they will now have more flexibility in the size and content of their apps. The changes are currently available in beta previews for developers, with a public beta expected next month and the official launch set for this fall.

Overall, these updates from Apple are sure to enhance the user experience and open up new possibilities for app and game developers on the iOS and tvOS platforms.
