Title: Indian Chess Players Shine in Superbet Chess Classic Second Round

In the second round of the Superbet Chess Classic, part of the Grand Chess tour, Indian chess players D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa showcased their skills against tough opponents.

World Championship challenger D Gukesh faced off against Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia in a hard-fought draw. Meanwhile, R Praggnanandhaa shared points with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France.

Top seed Fabiano Caruana missed out on a win against Wesley So due to a rare blunder, while Frenchman Alireza Firouzja secured a victory over Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan.

With seven rounds still to go in the tournament, Gukesh and Caruana are leading with 1.5 points each. They are followed by Alireza, Praggnanandhaa, Giri, Wesley Vachier-Lagrave, and Nepomniachtchi, all with one point each. Deac Bogdan-Daniel and Abdusattorov have half a point each.

Gukesh showcased his strategic prowess in a Ruy Lopez variation against Nepomniachtchi, while Praggnanandhaa pressed for an advantage in a Rossolimo opening against Vachier-Lagrave.

Caruana dominated the game against Wesley So but missed out on closing the game, resulting in a draw. Firouzja redeemed himself with a win over Abdusattorov.
