Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa Held to Draw in Superbet Classic Tournament, Alireza Firouzja Shines

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa faced a tough challenge in the sixth round of the Superbet Classic tournament as he was held to a draw by the lowest-ranked Deac Bogdan-Daniel of Romania. The young Indian prodigy tried his hand against the Nimzo Indian defense but was confidently breached by his opponent, resulting in a drawn game through repetition after 38 moves.

Meanwhile, Iranian-French Grandmaster Alireza Firouzja stole the show with his impressive moves against Wesley So of the United States, securing his second win of the tournament and putting himself in striking distance of tournament leader Fabiano Caruana.

On the other hand, India’s D Gukesh seemed to keep his true weapons in reserve as he signed for peace with Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France. With the World Championship match against Ding Liren on his mind, Gukesh appeared to be withholding his true preparation for the upcoming event scheduled in November this year.

With just three rounds remaining in the USD 350,000 prize money tournament, Caruana holds the top spot with three aspirants in Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa, and Alireza in pursuit. The competition is heating up as the players battle it out for the coveted title and prize money.

The Superbet Classic tournament continues to witness intense battles on the chessboard, with each player showcasing their skills and strategies in a bid to emerge victorious. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting tournament as the players gear up for the final rounds of intense competition.
