JCERT Prepares for Jharkhand State Olympiad Examination to Enhance Learning Capabilities

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training (JCERT) has taken the initiative to organize the Jharkhand State Olympiad Examination, aimed at boosting the learning capabilities and fostering a competitive spirit among government school students. The registration process for the examination is currently open until July 31, with students able to enroll themselves through a Google form. The date for the Olympiad is yet to be finalized, as per officials.

The Olympiad examination is open for students in Classes VII, VIII, and IX, covering five subjects: mathematics, English, science, social science, and general knowledge. Participants have the flexibility to appear in one or more subjects, and government school students are exempt from any examination fees.

An official from JCERT mentioned that the examination will be conducted using OMR sheets, with the initial round taking place at the district level. The top three students in each class and subject will then progress to the state-level examination. The exam will consist of 50 questions per subject, including 35 objective questions, 10 logical questions, and five challenging questions related to the subject matter.

The Olympiad questions will be presented in Hindi, with each question carrying one mark. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. The council will be responsible for preparing the question papers, and the state will award prizes to successful students in each class and subject.

Kaushal Kishore, additional district programme officer, stated, “Students who secure the top three positions in each subject and class at the district level will qualify for the final examination. Efforts are being made to design the Olympiad in a manner that resembles board exams, creating a competitive environment.”

Nisha Kumari, a class V student at Government Middle School, Lalpur, expressed her excitement, saying, “We have been preparing for the Olympiad for quite some time. This event provides us with the opportunity to deepen our understanding and expand our knowledge related to the subjects.”

The Jharkhand State Olympiad Examination is set to be a platform for students to showcase their skills and knowledge, encouraging them to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.
