Ayush Sharma, an 18-year-old chess prodigy from Madhya Pradesh, is on the brink of making history as the first Grandmaster from the state. With his recent achievement of securing his second Grandmaster norm at the Bell Chess Tournament in Switzerland, Ayush has solidified his position as the highest-rated chess player from Madhya Pradesh.

During his recent tournaments in Spain, France, and Switzerland, Ayush showcased his exceptional skills and managed to increase his rating by an impressive 110 points, bringing it to 2449. He is now just one Grandmaster norm and 51 rating points away from achieving his dream of becoming a Grandmaster.

One of Ayush’s most notable victories during the tournament was against India’s Shashi Kiran, a highly-rated player known as the “Indian Wall.” Ayush scored an impressive 7.5 points out of a possible 10 while competing against players from various countries, including China, Kazakhstan, France, Switzerland, Israel, USA, and India. Despite finishing joint first, Ayush was awarded the bronze medal based on the tie-break system.
