Celebrating Women’s History Month: International Women’s Day Chess Event and Roundtable Discussion

Chess.com is gearing up to celebrate Women’s History Month in a big way with a special arena tournament and roundtable discussion featuring some of the leading women in the game of chess. In collaboration with the Women in Chess Foundation, Chess.com will host this event on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024, from 12-3 p.m. ET/18:00-21:00 CET.

The event will kick off with a roundtable discussion at 12 p.m. ET/18:00 CET, which will be live-streamed on Chess.com’s Community Twitch channel. Hosted by Nigarhan Gurpinar and GM Pepe Cuenca, the panel will include Women in Chess Foundation President Emilia Castelao, international chess arbiter Judit Sztaray, content creator WCM Tallulah Roberts, and professional sports broadcaster Kaja Snare. They will discuss the progress of women in chess, the challenges they still face, and share inspiring stories from their own experiences.

Following the roundtable, a two-hour, 3+2 arena tournament will take place with exciting Chessable prizes up for grabs. The top-three finishers will receive WIM Luciana Morales’s ‘Queens of the Chess Board’ course on Chessable, filled with valuable lessons from some of the world’s greatest female players.

Additionally, special prizes will be awarded to Twitch streamers who broadcast the event while playing. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a chess enthusiast, this event is a great opportunity to celebrate and support the achievements of women in chess.

So mark your calendars for March 8th and join Chess.com in honoring the impact of women in chess and engaging in friendly competition with fellow community members. Whether you’re participating in the tournament or tuning in on Twitch, it’s sure to be a memorable celebration of International Women’s Day in the world of chess.
