Apple Enhances Chess Game for Macs with macOS Sequoia Update: What’s New?

Apple is set to revolutionize the classic Chess game on Macs with its upcoming macOS Sequoia update. The game, which has been a staple on every Mac for years, is finally getting a major facelift after a decade of no updates.

The new version of the Chess game will feature enhanced graphics and style limitations, giving players a more visually appealing and immersive experience. The glossy background has been replaced by a grainy gradient, and the board and pieces now boast brighter, more realistic textures.

However, not all changes are welcomed by players. The new version has reduced the style options from four to three, removing the Grass style option. Additionally, the ability to select different styles for the board and pieces separately has been eliminated.

The updated Chess game will be available to all users when macOS Sequoia officially launches later this year. The operating system update, unveiled at Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC 2024, also brings a slew of other improvements.

Users can expect new features in Messages and enhanced iPhone screen mirroring on their Mac with macOS Sequoia. The update also introduces a standalone Passwords app for easy password management and promises Apple Intelligence, which will bring AI-based features to the Mac.

Developers can get a sneak peek of macOS Sequoia now, with a public beta set to be released next month. The public release of the update is scheduled for this fall, giving Mac users plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
