Avinash Sable finishes eleventh in Men’s 3000m Steeplechase Final at Paris 2024 Olympics

Avinash Sable’s valiant effort in the men’s 3000m steeplechase final at the Paris 2024 Olympics may not have landed him on the podium, but it certainly captured the hearts of fans around the world. The Indian runner started strong, taking an early lead and holding on for the opening lap and a half. However, as the rest of the field closed in, Sable found himself boxed in and struggling to break free.

Meanwhile, Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali put on a masterclass performance, defending his title and making history as the first athlete to do so since Finland’s Volmari Iso-Hollo in the 1930s. El Bakkali’s time of 8:06.05 secured him the gold medal, with American Kenneth Rooks and Kenya’s Abraham Kibiwot taking silver and bronze, respectively.

El Bakkali, who arrived in Paris with a target on his back after winning the last three global championships, solidified his status as one of the greatest steeplechase runners of all time. His back-to-back victories in world championships, along with his previous Olympic gold in Tokyo, have cemented his legacy in the sport.

While Avinash Sable may not have reached the podium this time, his determination and grit on the track have undoubtedly earned him respect and admiration. As he continues to hone his skills and push his limits, there’s no doubt that he will be a force to be reckoned with in future competitions.
