Russian Chess Champion Allegedly Smears Mercury on Opponent’s Chessboard, Caught on Camera

Russian chess champion Amina Abakarova has found herself in hot water after allegedly smearing mercury on the chessboard of her 30-year-old opponent, causing her to become nauseated and dizzy. The shocking incident was captured on CCTV, showing Abakarova in the act of tampering with the chessboard and pieces of her rival, Umayganat Osmanova.

The video, shared by Dailymail, has since gone viral, accumulating several views and likes. People have been quick to comment on the disturbing footage, with one individual remarking, “She tried a real-life checkmate.” Another added, “There are cameras everywhere. Always act like you are being recorded.”

As a result of her actions, Abakarova has been stripped of her title and is facing a potential lifetime ban and jail time. The 42-year-old chess player, who hails from Russia’s Dagestan region, has sparked outrage and disbelief among the chess community.

Dagestan’s Minister of Sport, Sazhida Sazhidova, expressed his shock at the incident, stating, “I am perplexed by what happened, and the motives of such an experienced competitor as Amina Abakarova are incomprehensible. The actions she took could have led to a most tragic outcome, threatening the lives of everyone who was present, including herself. Now she must answer for what she did by the law.”

The chess world is reeling from this scandal, as Abakarova’s reputation has been tarnished by her alleged attempt to poison her opponent. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fair play and sportsmanship in competitive games.
