Mai Narva Triumphs in Second Qualifier of 2024 Julius Baer Women’s Speed Chess Championship

IM Mai Narva of Estonia emerged as the victor in the second qualifier of the 2024 Julius Baer Women’s Speed Chess Championship, showcasing her dominance in the Knockout stage. Narva secured her win by defeating WFM Hong Nhung Nguyen of Vietnam in the finals with an impressive 3.5-0.5 score.

The Swiss portion of the event saw IM Eline Roebers of the Netherlands taking the lead, only to be defeated in a thrilling armageddon tiebreak by Nhung Nguyen in the semifinals. Narva, on the other hand, triumphed over the top-seeded GM Zhu Jin’er of China in the semifinals with a score of 3.5-1.5.
