Singaporean Man Killed in Collision Between Tour Van and Lorry in Malaysia
A tragic accident in Malaysia claimed the life of a 60-year-old Singaporean man on Monday afternoon. The collision between a tour van and a lorry in Semporna, Sabah, also resulted in the death of a 40-year-old Vietnamese national.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 4pm at KM20 on Jalan Semporna-Tawau. The victims, identified as Singaporean Lee Siong Huat and Vietnamese Ngo Trinh Buu Dung, were killed on the spot.
Multiple injuries were reported, with three individuals suffering serious injuries, including the Malaysian tour van driver and two Singaporeans aged 67 and 71. Additionally, two more Singaporeans, an 11-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred when the tour van collided with a lorry before skidding and crashing to the roadside. The lorry driver, a 25-year-old, emerged unharmed from the incident.
Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended support to the affected citizens, providing consular assistance and support to the families of the victims. The ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured Singaporeans a speedy recovery.
