Panel Discussion: Chess for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder – Learn and Teach
The FIDE INFINITE CHESS Project is set to host an online panel discussion for chess teachers and tutors focusing on “Chess for children with an autism spectrum disorder. Learn and teach” on August 24, 2024. The event will run from 13:00 to 15:00 CEST and will be conducted via Zoom.
The discussion aims to provide a platform for partners to share their experiences and address the most challenging questions encountered while implementing the project. The panel will feature speakers from various countries who will discuss topics such as educational program benefits, challenges in behavior and emotions regulation, parental support, social acknowledgment, and project funding.
Key speakers at the event include Dana Reizniece-Ozola, Deputy Chair of FIDE Management Board, and Anastasia Sorokina, Leader of the project and FIDE WOM Chair. The agenda also includes sessions on the roadmap update for the project and a Q&A session after each presentation.
The FIDE INFINITE CHESS Project, supported by FIDE and IOC, aims to increase knowledge and awareness of chess for children with autism spectrum disorder, provide practical advice to teachers and parents, study the benefits of introducing chess, and develop various teaching methods. The project has been running globally since 2021 and has impacted over 150 children with ASD in 19 countries.
