Passenger plane delayed in Singapore after group refuses to fasten seatbelts during descent
The recent incident involving a group of unruly passengers on a Scoot flight from Bali to Singapore has sparked outrage and concern for flight safety. The budget airline reported that the captain had to discontinue the first approach into Singapore due to passengers refusing to fasten their seatbelts during descent.
In a TikTok video capturing the incident, the pilot can be heard explaining to passengers that he is legally unable to land the aircraft if the cabin is not secured. The video also shows auxiliary police boarding the plane after landing to escort the disruptive passengers off the aircraft.
This comes as the second incident in a week where unruly passengers have caused disruptions on flights into Singapore. Singapore Airlines recently blacklisted a passenger who was unruly on two separate flights, despite being given a verbal warning upon landing at Changi Airport.
Scoot has issued a statement apologizing for the disruptions and inconveniences caused to customers, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and staff is their top priority. The airline also mentioned that appropriate actions will be taken against any passenger who jeopardizes flight safety.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the public is urged to refrain from undue speculations. This serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols and regulations while onboard an aircraft.
