Nine-year-old Chess Champion A S Sharvaanica Shines Bright in Udayarapalayam
Nine-year-old chess prodigy A S Sharvaanica is taking the chess world by storm with her impressive victories and growing list of accolades. Hailing from Udayarapalayam, Ariyalur district, Sharvaanica has recently been awarded the title of Woman Candidate Master by FIDE, marking a significant milestone in her young career.
Despite her diminutive stature, Sharvaanica has a commanding presence on the chessboard, consistently outperforming her opponents in various tournaments. Her success story began in 2022 when she made her debut in competitive chess and quickly rose to fame for her exceptional skills.
At the FIDE World Cadet Rapid and Blitz championship event in Albania, Sharvaanica clinched the gold in the Rapid category and the silver in the Blitz Under-10 category. She continued her winning streak by securing gold medals at the Commonwealth Chess Championship in Malaysia and the Asian Youth Chess Championships in Sri Lanka and UAE.
Sharvaanica’s journey to chess stardom started during the lockdown when her elder sister introduced her to the game. Recognizing her younger sister’s talent, Ratshikaa, a competitive chess player herself, has been instrumental in Sharvaanica’s training and development.
Supported by her family and coached by grandmaster Vishnu Prasanna, Sharvaanica is on a mission to achieve the title of Woman International Master (WIM) and make her mark on the international chess scene. With her dedication, talent, and unwavering determination, Sharvaanica is poised to become a force to be reckoned with in the world of competitive chess.
