UAE Chess Player Salem Abdul Rahman Secures Victory in Sharjah International Chess Championship

In a thrilling eighth round of the Masters competition at the Sharjah International Chess Championship, UAE national team and Sharjah Club player Salem Abdul Rahman emerged victorious after defeating his Czech competitor, Engwin Tai. This win solidified Rahman’s position in the tournament and showcased his exceptional skills on the chessboard.

The top seeds in the competition, Iranian Daneshvar Baradiya and American Sam Shackland, drew in the same round, setting the stage for an intense battle for the championship title. Currently, Iranian Daneshvar Pradia, American Sam Shackland, and Russian Morzin Volodar are leading the Masters category with 6 points each, while 7 players are closely following with 5.5 points, including Salem Abdel Rahman.

In the Challenge Championship for players ranked under 2,500 points, the competition was fierce. Indian leader Divya Deshmukh drew with Russian Vladimir Burmakin, while Indian Nitish Belorkar suffered a loss to Russian Leah Garifullina. Top seeded Indian Arjun Eregaisi also drew with Serbia’s Alexei Sarana, showcasing the high level of competition in this category.

In the Future Championship for Promising Players, Alizadeh Akshin from Azerbaijan secured a victory against his Filipino counterpart, Santiago German, while Yunus Muhammad Zadeh from Azerbaijan drew with Indian Samart Gorai.
