Shanti Pereira Qualifies for Women’s 100m Final at 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games
Singaporean sprinter Shanti Pereira faced a tense wait for the results of the women’s 100m heats at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games on Friday evening. Despite finishing third in her heat, Pereira secured a spot in the final as one of the two best non-automatic qualifiers. The 27-year-old, who has broken the women’s 100m national record six times this year, will now focus on the 200m race and the 4x100m relay.
In swimming, it was a disappointing end to the competition for Singapore as they narrowly missed out on adding another medal to Teong Tzen Wei’s silver in the men’s 50m butterfly. Gan Ching Hwee finished fourth in the women’s 800m freestyle final, while the women’s 4x100m medley team was disqualified despite finishing third.
The Asian Games continue to be full of excitement and surprises, with athletes pushing themselves to the limit in pursuit of glory. Stay tuned for more updates on the competition and follow us on social media for the latest news and highlights.
