In a thrilling day three of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League in London, the PBS Alaskan Knights continued their unbeaten run with a dominant 12-3 win over the Ganges Grandmasters. The Alaskan Knights now hold a perfect record with four consecutive victories, earning them 12 match points and 49 game points.

Defending champions Triveni Continental Kings had a mixed day, winning their first match 15-3 against American Gambits but narrowly losing the second match to Ganges Grandmasters. Despite the loss, Triveni remains in second place with six match points and 43 game points, just six behind the leaders.

Alpine Sg Pipers also impressed with a 12-4 victory over upGrad Mumba Masters, securing third place with six match points. However, their 27 game points leave them behind Triveni. upGrad Mumba Masters sit in fourth place with only one win from four matches and 29 game points after losing to the Pipers.

The highlight of the day was the final match where Ganges Grandmasters, led by former World Champion Vishwanathan Anand, secured their first win of the tournament with a 10-8 victory over Triveni. With one win and 24 game points from four matches, Ganges Grandmasters now sit in fifth place.

Hikaru Nakamura’s American Gambits are in last place with only one match victory and 16 game points from three matches, after being defeated 15-3 by Triveni.

The match between Ganges Grandmasters and Triveni was a tense battle, with Anand’s team desperate for a win after three consecutive defeats. Despite the pressure, Ganges Grandmasters managed to pull off the upset victory, with Valentina Gunina securing the crucial points needed for the win.
