2024 North American Junior Chess Championships: Registration and Event Details

The excitement is building for the upcoming 2024 North American Junior Chess Championships, set to take place in Calgary, Canada from August 14-18, 2024. This prestigious event is open to young chess players under the age of 20 from Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The tournament will feature both an Open U-20 section and a Girls U-20 section, with players competing in a nine-round event starting on August 14. Medals, FIDE titles, and norms will be awarded to the top three players in each section, with gold medalists receiving the (W)IM title and a (W)GM norm.

In accordance with US Chess Scholastic Invitational Event Requirements, the US Chess Official Representatives for each section will be determined based on the players with the highest ratings in the February 2024 US Chess rating supplement. These representatives will receive free entry to the tournament and $350 CAD to cover expenses.

Players interested in participating in the championships are encouraged to register by May 31, 2024, to take advantage of the lowest entry fee. While registrations will be accepted until August 10, 2024, early registration is recommended. More information and registration details can be found on the organizer’s website.

The 2024 North American Junior Chess Championships are being organized by the Chess Federation of Canada (CFC), who can be contacted for further information. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to showcase your chess skills and compete against the best young players in North America!
