GM Oleksandr Bortnyk Claims Second Straight Bullet Brawl Title

GM Oleksandr Bortnyk has once again proven his dominance in the world of bullet chess by claiming his second straight title in the Bullet Brawl event on Saturday. With an impressive performance that included 69 wins, seven draws, and six losses, Bortnyk outpaced GM Daniel Naroditsky to secure the $400 first prize.

This victory adds to Bortnyk’s successful month of October, bringing his total winnings from Chess.com events to $1,900. Despite battling sickness during the event, Bortnyk managed to maintain his winning streak and fend off tough competition from Naroditsky and other top players.

The next Bullet Brawl event is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, at noon ET/18:00 CEST. With a prize fund of $1,000 and a lineup of top GMs, including Hikaru Nakamura and Tuan Minh Le, the competition promises to be fierce.

In addition to Bortnyk’s victory, FM Anastasia Avramidou claimed the $100 best women’s prize, while Sundram Kumar set a community event record by scoring 300 points. The event also saw the participation of GM Magnus Carlsen, who was online but did not join the competition.

Overall, Bortnyk’s strategic gameplay and consistent performance have solidified his position as a top contender in the world of bullet chess. Congratulations to him on another well-deserved victory!
