“Andrew Tang Wins Bullet Brawl 2023 in Thrilling Finish”

In a thrilling showdown that came down to a single point and mere seconds, GM Andrew Tang emerged victorious in the latest edition of Bullet Brawl, stealing the $400 first prize from GM Daniel Naroditsky. The intense battle saw Tang execute a 15-move win to secure the top spot in Saturday’s event.

Ukraine’s GM Oleksandr Bortnyk wasn’t far behind, earning $150 for his impressive 200-point performance. IM Renato Terry also put up a strong showing, clinching $100 for his fourth-place finish ahead of GM Nihal Sarin.

FM Anastasia Avramidou claimed the $100 women’s prize with a score of 76, while Georgia’s Nikoloz Akhvlediani emerged victorious in the community event with a score of 62.5 out of 73.

The next edition of Bullet Brawl is set to take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at noon ET/18:00 CEST.

Tang’s victory marked a significant milestone as he became the seventh player to be crowned in the 42 iterations of the two-hour arena. Known for his prowess in bullet chess, Tang had previously finished among the top three in multiple Bullet Brawls but had never secured the top spot until now.

The intense battle for first place between Tang and Naroditsky kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Tang’s strategic pre-move tricks and risky maneuvers ultimately paid off, propelling him to victory with a one-point lead over his competitor.

Despite his busy schedule as a quantitative trader at SIQ, Tang has maintained his world-class status in bullet chess, currently ranking fourth on the leaderboard of active players on Chess.com. His win at Bullet Brawl solidifies his position as a formidable contender in upcoming championships.

The event attracted 130 participants, including renowned players like GM Pepe Cuenca and FM Faustino Oro, as well as several 2600+ FIDE-rated players. For titled players, Bullet Brawl offers a unique opportunity to compete against some of the best in the game.

Bullet Brawl continues to be a highly anticipated event, showcasing Chess.com’s top bullet specialists in a fast-paced and competitive arena. With a $1,000 prize fund and top GMs like Hikaru Nakamura and Tuan Minh Le frequently participating, the tournament promises thrilling matches and fierce competition for chess enthusiasts worldwide.
