Magnus Carlsen Wins 2024 Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland After 10-Game Winning Streak

World number-one Magnus Carlsen has once again proven his dominance in the world of chess by posting an incredible 10-game winning streak to win the 2024 Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland tournament. Despite starting the day 2.5 points behind GM Wei Yi, Carlsen managed to catch up and overtake his rival by beating him in the fourth round of the day.

Carlsen’s calm and strategic play throughout the day allowed him to create enough chances to eventually make his opponents crumble. In the final round, Carlsen secured the draw he needed against GM Arjun Erigaisi to clinch victory by a half-point margin.

This impressive feat of beating all nine players in the tournament in a row is not new to Carlsen, as he had previously achieved the same in Zagreb in 2023. With this win, Carlsen takes home $40,000 in prize money, although as a wildcard, he did not earn any Grand Chess Tour points.

The 2024 Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland tournament, held at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, is the first event on the 2024 Grand Chess Tour. The intense competition featured a single rapid round-robin followed by a blitz double round-robin, showcasing the top talents in the world of chess.

Stay tuned for the full report on Carlsen’s remarkable victory at the 2024 Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland tournament.
