Exciting Partnership Announced for Second Season of Global Chess League

Chess.com and Tech Mahindra Partner to Support Second Season of Global Chess League

Chess enthusiasts around the world are gearing up for the highly anticipated second season of the Global Chess League, set to take place at Friends House in London from October 3 to 12. The event, which boasts a $1,000,000 prize fund, will feature six teams comprised of some of the best players worldwide, with a special emphasis on gender diversity by including at least two women in each team.

Last year’s inaugural Global Chess League saw the likes of chess legends Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, Gukesh Dommaraju, Hou Yifan, Tan Zhongyi, and more come together to compete. Ultimately, the Triveni Continental Kings, led by GM Levon Aronian, emerged victorious as the champions.

This year, fans can look forward to seeing familiar faces like Carlsen, Anand, and Hou, as well as other chess stars including Ju Wenjun, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Hikaru Nakamura, Arjun Erigaisi, and more. The question on everyone’s mind is whether the Triveni Continental Kings will be able to defend their title against such fierce competition.

“The Global Chess League’s first season was an incredible success, demonstrating the potential of team-based chess, something we’ve always believed in,” said IM Danny Rensch, Chief Chess Officer at Chess.com. “We’re excited about this partnership because it’s all about growing the game and making chess more accessible to fans around the world.”

Peeyush Dubey, Chairperson of Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, expressed his excitement about the partnership with Chess.com, stating, “This partnership will help us further expand the league’s reach globally and enhance fan engagement.”

In addition to the thrilling competition on the chessboard, fans are also invited to participate in the Global Chess League hackathon for a chance to win cash prizes and tickets to see the event live. Submissions for the hackathon close on July 31, with mentorship rounds and the final showcase set to take place in August and September, respectively.

With the stage set for another exciting season of competitive chess, fans are encouraged to share their excitement for the Global Chess League in the comment section below. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking partnership between Chess.com and Tech Mahindra.
