Despite facing early control from Keymer, Gukesh’s strategic gameplay eventually led to his triumph as the German resigned. Gukesh’s live rating now stands at 2784, gaining seven Elo points, while Erigaisi has dropped to 2779 after losing 21.5 points.
Erigaisi, who was previously in the 2800-club, has been struggling in the tournament with three losses and two draws, placing him joint-bottom with Leon Luke Mendonca. On the other hand, Gukesh remains unbeaten with two wins and three draws, showcasing his impressive performance.
With eight more swiss rounds to go, the live ratings are expected to fluctuate, potentially allowing Erigaisi to reclaim his position from Gukesh. Meanwhile, Magnus Carlsen continues to lead the ratings with 2832.5, followed by Hikaru Nakamura and Fabiano Caruana.
