India’s D Gukesh is set to make history as he takes on world champion Ding Liren in the upcoming World Chess Championship, with the potential to become the youngest ever world champion at just 18 years old. This clash between two Asian players marks a historic moment in the world of chess.

Gukesh, who recently became the youngest winner of the Candidates tournament at the age of 17, has already garnered praise from top grandmasters like Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, and Anish Giri, who believe he has a strong chance of winning the championship. Even Ding Liren himself has expressed concerns about potentially losing the title to Gukesh.

The World Chess Championship match is scheduled to take place over three weeks, with 14 match days and 4 rest days planned. The opening ceremony will be held on November 23, with the first game set for November 25. All games will start at 17:00 local time (2:30 pm IST).

The format of the championship dictates that the first player to reach 7.5 points will be declared the winner. In case of a tie after 14 games, tiebreaks will be played the following day to determine the champion.

The total prize fund for the championship is $2.5 million, with specific distribution based on game outcomes. Each player will receive $2,00,000 for each game won, with the remaining prize money split equally. In the event of a tie-break, the winner will receive $13,00,000 and the runner-up $12,00,000.

The prestigious event will be held at Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, known for its luxurious facilities and scenic location. Fans can catch all the action live on the FIDE YouTube channel.

Chess enthusiasts and supporters of Gukesh will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of this historic World Chess Championship, as the young Indian prodigy looks to etch his name in the annals of chess history.
