Excitement Builds for the Second Season of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League in London

The excitement is building as we are just a few days away from the start of the second season of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, set to take place in London from October 3-11. The tournament will feature some of the biggest names in chess, including GMs Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Viswanathan Anand, Hou Yifan, and Vaishali Rameshbabu, all competing for a $1 million prize fund.

The Global Chess League is the world’s first and largest official franchise chess league, aimed at popularizing the game and bringing a new level of excitement to the chess world. With teams owned and operated as individual businesses, the league is set to revolutionize the way chess is played and viewed.

The tournament will feature six teams, each with six players, competing in a unique format that includes players of different genders and age groups. The matches will be played with a time control of 20 minutes for the whole game without increment, and the points system will reward wins with different colors differently.

Last year’s champions, the Triveni Continental Kings, will be looking to defend their title against tough competition in what promises to be an exciting and fiercely competitive event. The $1 million prize fund will be up for grabs, with the winning team taking home $500,000 and a bonus prize divided among the players and coach.

Chess fans can follow all the action live on the Global Chess League’s official broadcast website and Chess.com, the official platform partner of the tournament. Tickets are also available for those who want to experience the excitement in person at Friends House in central London.

With top players, innovative formats, and a significant prize fund on the line, the second season of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League is shaping up to be a must-watch event for chess enthusiasts around the world.
