FEU Women’s Chess Team Dominates Round 3 with 4-0 Victory

Far Eastern University (FEU) continued its dominant run in the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Chess Tournament, securing a commanding 4-0 victory over Adamson University in Round 3 on Wednesday. The Lady Tamaraws’ flawless performance keeps them at the top of the standings with four match points.

FEU, after sitting out the opening round with a bye, has now swept back-to-back matches, showcasing their strength in the competition. Leading the charge were Woman National Masters Mhage Sebastian, Vic Glysen Derotas, and Mary Joy Tan, who delivered flawless performances on Boards 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Samantha Umayan also made a successful season debut for FEU, scoring a decisive victory on Board 4.

Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila University claimed an impressive 3-1 win over University of the Philippines, moving into second place with four match points. Ma. Elayza Villa and Lexie Hernandez led Ateneo with victories on Boards 2 and 3.

De La Salle University also reached four match points after a narrow 2.5-1.5 win against University of Santo Tomas. Woman National Masters Francois Magpily and Rinoa Sadey led the Lady Woodpushers with victories in their respective boards.
