Billionaire Gautam Adani Praises Indian Teenage Chess Sensation R Praggnanandhaa for Remarkable Victory in Norway Chess Competition

The chess world was left in awe as Indian teenage sensation R Praggnanandhaa achieved a remarkable victory by defeating world number two player Fabiano Caruana in the ongoing Norway Chess competition. The young prodigy’s impressive performance caught the attention of billionaire Gautam Adani, who took to social media to praise Praggnanandhaa for his incredible feat.

Adani wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Incredible Praggnanandhaa! Beating both World No.1 Magnus Carlsen and No.2 Fabiano Caruana in classical chess at #NorwayChess is mindblowing. You’re on a roll and still just 18! Keep the tricolour flying high. All the very best.”

Praggnanandhaa’s victory over Caruana comes after he also defeated Carlsen in previous matches’ rapid/exhibition games. His stellar performance at the Norway Chess competition has propelled him into the top ten of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Rankings. Notably, the tournament is taking place in Carlsen’s home country, adding to the significance of Praggnanandhaa’s achievements.

However, the young chess prodigy faced a setback in Round 4 of the competition as he lost to America’s Hikaru Nakamura. Nakamura displayed masterful preparation and secured a convincing victory over Praggnanandhaa, climbing to the top of the overall standings.

Meanwhile, local hero Magnus Carlsen earned three points in the Norway Chess main event, narrowly defeating Fabiano Caruana in a dramatic endgame. The tournament, which began with great excitement, featured the world’s top chess players competing in a super-tournament at SpareBank 1 SR-Bank from May 27 to June 7.

This year, the event also included the debut of Norway Chess Women, showcasing top female players from around the globe. Both tournaments utilized a 6-player double round-robin format with equal prize money, highlighting a commitment to gender equality in chess.

Praggnanandhaa’s impressive performance and the overall excitement of the Norway Chess competition have captivated chess enthusiasts worldwide, showcasing the talent and competitiveness of the sport at the highest level.
